Garrett Guide — Next-Generation Handheld Metal Detector

USB-C rechargeable125 h battery lifeDocking station includedIP65NIJ-0602.02 compliant

Everything that made the Super Scanner V the global standard, refined, and thoroughly modern: rechargeable by USB-C, so there are no batteries to buy or swap, with a docking station included as standard from RedteQ. Ultra-sensitive response to ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless weapons, switch-selectable vibrate or audio alarms, three-colour LED status, military-spec drop-test durability, four offset settings to eliminate archway interference, and a rebar-reduction switch for construction environments. Designed to meet STAC, ECAC and TSA requirements, backed by a 3-year warranty — as comfortable in a courthouse as a nightclub.

Stock is held in our Hampshire warehouse at all times: ready for rapid delivery, from a single scanner to a fleet.

The handheld for searches that shouldn’t announce themselves. The THD has no audible tone at all — it alarms by vibration and a red LED, so the operator knows and nobody else in the queue does. That one difference changes where a handheld can be used: custody and detention, door and dispersal work, close protection, safeguarding searches in schools and colleges, and anywhere a beeping wand would escalate the thing you are trying to keep calm.

Short, light and built to be carried rather than signed out of a store — 22 cm and 0.2 kg, with a ballistic weave holster for a belt or a vehicle included. A 360° detection field over a four-inch detection length, with a pinpointing tip, picks up ferrous, non-ferrous and stainless steel with no adjustment to make, and a built-in LED torch deals with the doorway at one in the morning — reading an ID, looking into a bag or a pocket. Three-colour LED tells the operator what they need at a glance: green for on, amber for low battery, red for an alarm.

One 9V battery is included and changes without tools, with 110V and 220V rechargeable kits available separately. IP66 sealing, −37°C to 70°C, a case that exceeds the Mil-Std-810F drop test, and a 3-year limited parts and labour warranty.

Stock is held in our Hampshire warehouse at all times: ready for rapid delivery, from a single unit to a fleet.

Choosing between them: the Guide is the checkpoint handheld — audible or vibrate, rechargeable, docked in banks and shared across a shift. The THD is the one an individual officer carries, and the only one of the three that never makes a sound. Plenty of operations run both.

Power & Siting

Handhelds have no siting requirements at all — which is exactly why every checkpoint has them.

  • Battery powered, with rechargeable options and docking stations held in UK stock.
  • No installation, no survey, no fixed position. They go where the queue is.
  • Docking stations need only an ordinary socket, and keep a bank of units charged and ready.
Every figure here comes from the manufacturer’s own datasheet. We still confirm supply, access route and floor loading on site — a free site survey before anything is ordered, so nothing arrives that the building can’t take.
